First Fruit Blossom Out

After a little bit more overnight rain it brightened up towards lunchtime with some lengthy sunny spells. There was a strong breeze which took the edge off the temperature.

In the greenhouse our first fruit blossom of the year is out. Our peach, nectarine and apricot have all come into flower at the same time.
Nectarine - Fantasia
Apricot Flavourcot
Peach - Avalon Pride
Of course no self respecting pollinating insect is going to be flying around the greenhouse so early in the year so Sue will be very busy with her pollinating brush.

  1. My peach blossom has just started to open as well. I don't bother with the paintbrush any more; I wasn't particularly successful with it (wrong technique?) and the fruit that did set was knocked off by flying footballs. I'm gradually lifting the crown of the tree as it grows, so I'm hoping that eventually the peaches will be higher than the footballs.

    1. Thankfully I don't have a problem with footballs in the greenhouse. Those peaches that are out of reach of the footballs will take some picking.
