Monday had some lovely sunny spells somewhat spoilt by persistent snow showers especially through the morning. The snow didn't settle and amounted to very little rainfall. Despite the sunshine the temperature only managed a high of 6.4°C (43.5°F) and it felt even colder in the strong and blustery wind.
There wasn't much to be done outside and as I hadn't used my camera for a couple of days I thought I’d try a few bird photos just to keep my hand in.
With the forecast set for cold weather any gardening looks like being on hold this week. Temperatures are forecast to be milder by the weekend.

ReplyDeleteI'm attempting to get some photos of our birds on branches and twigs but haven't been successful yet rather than the easy shots on feeders.
DeleteInterested to see the goldfinch photo.I'd bought some mix which included niger seed to attract them as they've visited in previous years ,but no show.
ReplyDeleteBut recently I got a bag of sunflower hearts and now the goldfinches are back,plus siskins and a pair of bullfinches.
In fact now all the birds only seem to be attracted to the sunflower hearts and are ignoring peanuts,suet blocks,special seed mixes and anything else on offer!
Most of our birds go for sunflower hearts too David. Even our robins get sunflower hearts from the feeder.
DeleteSuet pellets are a morning treat which attracts the blackbirds and starlings.
