A Lovely Day for Walking the Dog

Tuesday was a lovely day for the end of November. Plenty of sunshine, no wind and the temperature up to 8.3°C in the afternoon but to be honest it felt as if it was milder than that.

We decided on a walk in the afternoon as the weather was so nice and made a trip to Temple Newsam. We decided to collect Tivvy on the way there and give her a nice afternoon walk too. There’s plenty of tarmac paths around the grounds so she doesn't get too dirty on her walk.
From a distance there still seems to be plenty of leaves left on the trees but on closer inspection it’s not the case and most of the leaves have fallen off onto the grass.
The park still looked very colourful though as we made our way around the main lake towards the walled garden. Inside the walled garden the gardeners were busy giving the grass one last cut before winter eventually sets in.
As for Tivvy this was very much her, “Why have we stopped?” look as I managed a quick snap. The only downside was the number of dog owners who don’t keep their pet on a lead but insist that it’s perfectly well behaved and under total control as their pet hurtles towards another dog completely oblivious of their owner shouting them to stop or come here. Of course there’s the wonderful comment he/she  is very playful and won’t hurt you as though I'm (or Tivvy’s) a sort of mind reader as their dog heads towards us at full tilt.

  1. What a sweet dog. I know exactly what you mean about other people's out of control dogs. I've had a buggy pee'ed on, my littlest boy's picnic tea eaten and mud all over my legs before now. Yours looks sweet though, I haven't seen her before, do you borrow her? Lovely photos, it's so nice to be outside on a good day at this time of year. I went to the allotment yesterday morning in the sun, and it was beautiful. I even managed to get some weeds out of the half-frozen ground!

    1. Yes CJ we "borrow" her it's a really great way to have a dog. Autumn's hanging on well so far with some very nice days.

  2. Awww, Tivvy looks as though she's had a good walk. Archie loves Temple Newsam, he has a good run on the grass in front of the house but has to be put on his lead near the lake otherwise he'd jump in, he loves water.

    1. Tivvy and water don't get on. If it's raining she crosses her legs and wont go out without some persuasion.

  3. Your comment on other dogs not on a leash is a common problem here on the Eastbourne promenade also seems we just have to live with it shame but clearly a sign of the times

    1. Problem is it leads to all dog owners getting a bad reputation.

  4. It's always a bit of a panic moment when a large dog comes bounding up (especially when it is barking its head off). Tiv's panics (she is fine with a steady approach) but we worry too. I wouldn't bother as much if Tiv's wasn't with us as I love dogs but we have heard of cases where small dogs have been attacked by larger ones. The owner I spoke to said he wouldn't allow his dog off the lead if it was 'like that' but he accepted that we couldn't know that until it was too late. It just ignored him when he called it back.so it wasn't as in control as he made out.
