The Gloom Has Descended!

November has been a miserable month even by November standards. It began very wet, giving us our wettest November day of the last 10 years. Throughout the month it was on the cold side until a milder spell arrived over the last couple of days.
November 2019 Temperature & Rainfall Details
For the last few days daytime and night time temperatures have varied very little and the milder few days will probably be enough to stop this from turning out to be the coldest November I've recorded.
However, the milder conditions of the last few days have been accompanied by very cloudy weather without any hint of sunshine. Although it hasn't rained very much the ground has never dried up.
We haven't even visited the allotment to harvest any vegetables but as we've almost run out of fresh vegetables we'll have to make a visit soon. It's certainly too wet to do any other jobs on the plot other than cutting some cabbages and digging up some carrots, parsnips and leeks. The forecast is for the gloom to continue until the weekend when the weather will turn colder again as we head towards December.

  1. I often wonder what people do in colder climates when they can't get outside from November to April. I know I complain a lot about the heat in the summer but that's what goes with sunshine here. We need a middle point, don't we? Where is that perfect cimate?

    1. I think our temperate climate is supposed to be the middle ground - never too hot and never too cold. I noticed yesterday on a blog that the next sunrise for Troms in Norway is 15th January 2020 at 11:36. It sets by 12:11. That's a very long wait for a bit of daylight. Perhaps I shouldn't complain too much about our dull weather!
