You've Guessed It - More Rain but a Fox

Wednesday was another wet day with mostly light rain all day. The total only came to 6.0mm but on top of all the other rainfall it just keeps the ground continually saturated.

In a way it didn't bother me too much as I was on a “Springwatch” mission making a visit to Leeds to photograph and video some urban foxes.
Well to be honest I went to Leeds to help a friend sort out a couple of computer problems and right on cue, as we'd finished sorting out the software, look who came looking for a meal.
Foxes are regular visitors to the garden and she was looking a bit worse for wear as she’s busy bringing up some cubs. I've added a video clip below of her crossing the garden for food. I wasn't using my camera so it’s a bit more juddery than I would have liked.

I might have to revisit just to check if the computer issues really have been resolved and take along my camera too, just in case.

  1. Lovely photos and footage, she clearly knows where to go! I was woken up last night by a fox in the street barking really loudly. There are no doubt plenty around here, but I've never seen one in the back garden.

    1. Foxes take chickens down on the plot but we are never around to see them.

  2. This fox knew perfectly where to get her food, lovely to be able to photograph/film this. These animals look so nice but are often a nuissance. We have plenty of them here too but not in our garden gladly, no good for the hens.

    1. We don't have them in our garden either. No chickens for them.

  3. I know there are foxes around here but I've never seen one. She's looking a bit dishevelled but obviously knows where to go when she needs a meal. I think I'd have my camera permanently at the ready if I knew a fox was likely to visit.

    1. So would I but I suppose if she visits almost every night then maybe not.

  4. Foxes visit my garden quite frequently -- too frequently for my liking, because they often destroy things and defecate in my flower-beds!

    1. Perhaps it's just as well we don't get them in the garden then. Didn't get any reports of damage in the garden where they were filmed though.
