Hottest day of the year

Monday became the hottest day of the year with the temperature reaching 31.4°C or 88.5°F. It moves into ninth equal place in my list of top twenty hottest days since 2010.

    1. It was too hot for me too. Sat it out in the shade.

  2. Martyn, looking forward to your reports on projected highest temperatures next few days. Not Anonymous, but Jane Strong. None of my comments have shown up since the change so when I was offered Anonymous, I took it. Will it work?

  3. Hi Jane, I found your comment lurking in my email folder. Good job I bothered to read it before hitting the delete button. Then had to work out how to find the comment in blogger. Anyhow it should be published now. So yes it has worked!

I've still to sort out a blog post about the current heatwave if indeed 3 days makes a heatwave. However, temperature records have been broken. Today, Tuesday reached 40.4°C (104.7°F). I appreciated that for some parts of the world this is nothing unusual but for us a hot summers day is mid 70's °F so we are just not set up for such a high temperature. However, things are due to return to normal tomorrow. More pressing is the need for some rain. We haven't had a proper wet day since February. Totally fed up with trying to keep the allotment and garden watered. Proper blog post coming soon.
