Tuesday left out the dull start and we had sunshine for most of the day. There was a time early afternoon when it looked like a thunderstorm was brewing but the cloud just broke up and disappeared leaving the rest of the afternoon warm and sunny.
We were looking for a less eventful day after our fright on the horse drawn tram car on Monday. It didn't quite work out to plan as first we had a telephone call from a plot neighbour to report that our shed had been broken into.
It's 8x6 in old money David. It certainly could have been worse. They've prised the door open before leaving me with some repair work to do to fix the door.
Sorry about your shed. This happens at our site every so often too. And a neighbouring plot that is utterly immaculate was vandalised a few weeks ago - plants pulled up and a six foot fruit frame damaged. Cigarette ends and cans were left by their bench as well. They've taken the bench away now - while they are happy for anyone to sit and enjoy their plot, they don't want to encourage destructive people. It's such a shame. I'm very impressed with the inside of your shed though - lovely! Mine's small, damp and dark and who knows what is lurking in the corners.
What a week you're having, thankfully no serious vandalism (remember a few years ago there was a spate of shed fires at allotments?)
I was stung twice (by the same wasp) whilst mowing the lawn a few days ago. Stupid thing seems to have flown up my trouser leg! Hurt like hell so I have great sympathies for your neighbour, even though they were being incredibly stupid. Something in the paper last week about the huge numbers of wasps this autumn, not sure it explained why though.
Wasps are now enjoying our plums. It's a dangerous job picking fruit. We've both been stung by wasps so we too have first hand experience of how unpleasant their stings are. I reckon a few more weeks and the nest will go through the natural cycle of these things in any case.
Glad to hear that no major damage and theft was done. Its still annoying though when low lives have no respect for your property. As for respecting nature, my blog heading has a hint.
More break-ins on Wednesday night. We escaped this time though. Guess there's absolutely no deterrent so they'll continue until they are sure there's nothing worth stealing left on the site.

ReplyDeleteSeems having your shed vandalised is just a fact of allotment life. No one wants to do anything about the problem.
DeleteHave a look at Sue's blog post today. Whilst I was fixing the window Sue took the opportunity to tidy up the inside of the shed.
