Another couple of decent July days although it was a bit cool on Thursday morning as the over night temperature fell to 9.0°C (48.2°F) the coldest of the month.
A week ago the forecast was for some decent rainfall on Thursday but that forecast went by the wayside and now we really do need some rain to help some of our crops along.
Those are impressive crevasses in your plot. We've managed to miss pretty much most of the rain in the forecast this summer. It appeared to rain for quite a while on Monday, but not much actually came down, lift the leaves of plants and the soil is bone dry. The leeks had to go in on Tuesday & Wednesday (they were beginning to turn yellow in the seed trays they've been there so long) and I hoped the soil would be moist after Monday's rain, but it was still like dust (very light soil) and the holes were very difficult to make. Never mind, we've got a BBQ to go to tomorrow, so it should rain hard !
